Musical Interlude: Linda Ronstadt's foray into pop standards annoyed some and delighted others. At their worst, some of these could be a bit insipid and mawkish, but that was rare. They were often good versions of classic songs, and at their very best were exceptional. This is my favorite track from that era.

Musical Interlude: In the 80s, Toni Tennille recorded her first solo album, a collection of pop standards that were well-suited to her voice. It came as a pleasant surprise to many and was highly praised, if not a big financial success. I liked it.
