This plastic money box was made by the Bank of New Zealand after New Zealand trading banks gained governmental approval in October 1964 to each have their own private savings banks. This particular money box was made after decimal currency was introduced in July 1967.
Money boxes like this example were given to customers, often children, to encourage saving. The shape of this one evokes a bag full of coins.
