Common Pauraque Snug In Its Surroundings by Debra Martz
They hunt insects at night, but roost during the day, blending in with the fallen leaves. They often select the same resting spot, which we verified when we returned to this park a few days later.
Photographed in Estero Llano Grande State Park, Texas, in February.
Its distribution is widespread in the Neotropics but ventures into the U.S., just in South Texas.
