Matthew McGilvery (Nctrnm) on Instagram: "Welcome to 2026: A December Retrospective | PXLTV11 | Part 2 Family & Birthdays: For my mom's birthday on December 10th, I made a homemade chicken pot pie. I also discussed my vision for live shows and an upcoming tour with my parents. My mom suggested a Christmas performance, which I decided to do. My own birthday was on December 13th, during which I was still promoting PXL and studying for finals. Academic Journey: I passed my finance (C+) and business analysis (B-) finals, crucial for graduating in Spring 2026, especially after a previous semester where financial aid was held due to failed classes. This success cleared the way for spring semester registration. Christmas DJ Performance: After finals, I had four days to prepare for my Christmas DJ performance, which served as a "beta performance" for my family. I used Serato DJ Light software and a Roland Serato DJ 202 controller. The set aimed to tell a story, mixing original songs with tracks from artists like Donna Summer, The Temptations, and Michael Jackson. Experience PXL at pxl.nctrnm.com ๐Ÿ’œ"

PXL is emotionally driven electronica created from lived experience, differing from my previous studio-experimentation-focused work. It combines hip-hop sensibilities, global rhythm, and ambient storytelling to map the emotional journey of relationships unraveling and reorganizing, with each track acting as a chapter. Key tracks covered in this segment: - Fish: a chaotic, dance-like track reflecting looping thoughts in a difficult relationship, ultimately affirming self-worth and confidence - You: an emotional peak blending ambient space and rhythmic urgency, capturing heartbreak and the struggle to maintain dignity - Wildflower: a collaboration with @xeoulcalibur, symbolizing a long exhale and stepping out of depression - Transit: one of the most maximalist tracks on the album, representing healing and steady forward motion, like riding a train at sunset This livestream segment highlights the emotional depth, narrative structure, and sonic storytelling that make PXL resonate with listeners navigating personal change and self-discovery. ๐ŸŽง Listen: pxl.nctrnm.com ๐Ÿ›๏ธ Merch: shop.nctrnm.com ๐Ÿ““ PXL Zine Issue One: https://www.tumblr.com/nctrnm/798979453401300992/pxl-zine-issue-1-tone-this-is-the-first-issue?source=share ๐Ÿ”— RetroSynth Records Feature: https://www.retrosynthrecords.com/album-review-pxl-by-nctrnm-matthew-mcgilvery/"
