A PN junction is the interface formed between a P-type semiconductor and an N-type semiconductor: P-type semiconductor is doped with acceptor impurities, such as boron (B), making holes the majority charge carriers. The N-type semiconductor is doped with donor impurities, such as phosphorus (P), making electrons the majority carriers.
