SIP Level 2 begins on 03/20/26 and expands therapists’ capacity to work with clients’ spiritual resources through focused study in Course 2.1, Spiritual Interventions: Working with Spiritual Resources, Part 2. This course presents seven common spiritual interventions, enabling therapists to draw from explicit and implicit practices such as sacred texts, music, nature, meditation, and prayer. Participants learn to ground these interventions in careful spiritual assessment and to apply them ethically in clinical settings.
The curriculum emphasizes tailoring interventions to client needs, strengthening participants’ ability to identify internal and external resources that support resilience, meaning making, and healing. Learning occurs within a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment that encourages curiosity, reflection, and attention to the whole person.
The instructors bring deep experience. Beth Toler integrates psychotherapy, theology, and spirituality with expertise in trauma informed work and family systems. Her teaching emphasizes compassionate presence and meaning making. Tere Canzoneri draws from psychodynamic theory, systems theory, and mindfulness based approaches, offering learners a reflective and present focused teaching style rooted in decades of clinical practice. Melissa Lemons brings an eclectic, relational therapeutic approach informed by supervision, higher education, pastoral leadership, and clinical experience with diverse populations.
Together, they offer grounded instruction that supports therapists in applying spiritual interventions responsibly and effectively.

Teaching Writing in the Age of AI
With Victoria the latest state to ban ChatGPT, teachers everywhere are grappling with the implications of the large language model and the impact it will have on the classroom. We know that banning and blocking technology is - at best - a temporary solution. Students will find ways around the blocks, and teachers will be faced with policing the technology and its use. Aside from the "cheating narrative", many teachers are also very hopeful of how the technology could be integrated into their […]https://leonfurze.com/2023/02/06/teaching-writing-in-the-age-of-ai/
Generative AI, plagiarism, and “cheating”
Back in January, I wrote a post called Beyond Cheating, reflecting on the ChatGPT bans that were rolling out across various Australian states and the "cheating" narrative that had accompanied the chatbot since its release. In that earlier post, I argued that banning and blocking generative AI would only contribute to the digital divide - students who have greater access to digital technologies would inevitably be able to access and use GAI, putting those who rely on in-school technology […]https://leonfurze.com/2023/09/20/generative-ai-plagiarism-and-cheating/
Creative but critical: How educators can learn to live with AI
December 2022 represented a step-change in Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies. With the release of OpenAI’s ChatGPT, suddenly the whole world (or at least the millions of users who logged in within a week of its launch) were talking about Large Language Models. LLMs represent just a portion of AI technologies, but ChatGPT shifted the public narrative in ways we hadn’t seen before, even with impressive image generation applications like DALL-E 2 and Midjourney. LLMs are a form of […]https://leonfurze.com/2023/01/29/creative-but-critical-how-educators-can-learn-to-live-with-ai/
