When I was feeding regularly, the House Sparrows were the bane of my existence. They would shovel seed onto the ground for the rodents; at 70+ House Sparrows per day, that's a lot of seed. I stopped feeding and now I have a small weedy backyard meadow of sorts, so I am still getting the other winter sparrows, but the HS are having to forage elsewhere.
House Sparrows are interesting birds, and in my area are good to check for wintering Dickcissels at the feeder, but #onemansmeat
