Controlling tyre pressure & acceleration of cars passing by, home alarm systems, car & garage remotes, energy & waterflow meters, barbecue thermometers % the likes.

Such treatment is not appropriate So I got her a companion, a discone 85 - 1.300 GHz, a submissive antenna on the receiving end. Or a #SIGINT antenna if you wish. Around 21:00 local [MET] Africa would fade in during summer. On June 23rd 1974 I had listened to Radio Togo for a while & inevitably landeded at Radio N'Djamena, Tchad. The best African ethno pop station with good signals in Mid-Europe during these years.
Shortwave radio was our Spotify, a pre-programmed Hyper-Wurlitzer in the sky, sound quality depending on the mercy of the ionosophere.

A night on the radio 50 years ago typically started at dusk with greyline dx-ing the far east. First Gamelan tunes, then All India Radio would fade in with strong signals on 31 meters.
At a time when the only ethno music record you could buy in the shops was Ravi Shankar with the Beatles we could listen to such Ragas every night.

This was my radio then, Barlow Wadley XCR 30, the best portable dx machine of the 1970ies. A triple superheterodyne with antenna tuner for the entire HF spectrum. Not only the broadcast bands but all of hf with 2 twists on 2 wheels .
Southafrican produce, endless troubles with customs & law because a full spectrum hf radio SSB radio for civilian use was new to them. And the radio importer being a kid of 17
