The biggest #NinjaAdventures of my life are under way

See ya in like 6 hours Seoul

#NinjaAdventures

This week’s #NinjaAdventures see me making the trip to #Ōtautahi as head stage manager for NYT’s first show down there.

We’re doing Cats, which was my first ever musical as a wee kiddo.

I’m also mentoring a Stage Manager through how to do this scale of shows, with the hopes that they can take Head SM from me next season. And hopefully teaching a calling class on one of our double show days, we’ll see how the time flows this week

“Heading to the west. No the east! A geographically challenged pilot might be a bit of a problem ay. Don’t worry, I’ve been to Dunedin and back again today and that was sweet as!”

This pilot can have a cookie 🍪

We’re sitting in Whakatū airport, the weather is pretty gnarly so almost every flight this morning has been cancelled or delayed

I feel like few things really expose peoples personalities more than travel shenanigans

#NinjaAdventures

Ahh Whakatū

So beautiful!
At least the inside of the Theatre Royal is
As was the walk I took myself on by the river today

#NinjaAdventures

Heading southwards on the train this morning to be with some of the Weirdos for a few days

Got a book from the to read pile
Got some leg room
Got the playlist for this morning going

Although the closer we get to funeral time, the more likely it is to change to loud metal because I refuse to cry on the train in front of strangers

#NinjaAdventures

And things that I know are potentially terrible life decisions. But. Some things are worth committing to.

Walking home from No Grumps Film Club despite having to through one of the dodgy parts of town so that we can do a double bill film club tomorrow night

#NinjaAdventures

The first two weeks in April saw the final week of Phantom, including an epic packout that we smashed in 10 hours instead of 15.

I had five days back in Tāmaki for mahi.
I got the traditional gleeful mirrorball riding in the cabin photo post one pack out.
Helped lead a large interactive art installation in Aotea Square, which included a lot of rain. A. LOT.

And made my return to Rotorua on Sunday, just in time to attend a dear friend’s 40th shindig

#NinjaAdventures

The majority of March sees me in Rotorua, as Head Mech for Phantom of the Opera

I got to do the infamous chandelier fly, and the drop!
We had what is best described as a fucktonne of softs on the fly rail, which were cool to see floating!
One of my besties (the Edinburgh import) came down for a week, so we did important goofing off around show calls
And ofc a photo down my fly rail, but from the weight cradle. How beautiful is this engineering?!

#NinjaAdventures

March is distinctly split in two

The first half in Tāmaki.
A delighted dinner with three of my favourite imported techs (Edinburgh, Sydney, and Chch)
Flying for a touring gig at a home venue, and finishing both the install and strike two hours earlier than scheduled.
AAF
Catching a show that I’d been part of preliminary rigging discussions for 18 months ago, and going “daaannng”
Stress testing a system with one of the fave imports, which looked a lot like goofing around 😂
