A total of 165,000 people were unemployed, a rise of 4000 on the previous quarter and 10,000 on a year ago.
The data was worse than forecast by economists and the Reserve Bank.
How's that growth growth growth going NickyNoBoats?

and on a slightly less amusing note...
I'm not terribly impressed by some of the rhetoric about the replacement ferry deal. They're a lot of legitimate criticism of it doing the rounds (I've seen figures showing that we'll be paying more money for less boatage than the original deal would have been before the morons canned the original deal), and yes the Chinese Communist Party is evil on a par with Likud (Uyghur genocide anyone), but the notion that the new ferries will be poorly made and unreliable because they're Chinese is the same racism that there was about Japanese cars 40 years ago when in reality a Japanese car in 1985 was equal or better in quality to anything else at a given price point.
The boats aren't going to have the same bang-for-the-buck as the original deal we had before some ABSOLUTE FSCKING IMBECILE cancelled it - because Aotearoa was able to screw the shipyard down to an absolute rock-bottom price while Covid was still playing merry hell with shipping everywhere - but they'll still be adequate and serviceable replacements for the old ferries.
Tbf, National didn't have Captain Luxon behind the wheel with #NickyNoBoats navigating the HMS Aotearoa through stormy waters at the time.
Crikey
#NZPol finance minister #NickyNoBoats would have asked the NZ Reserve Bank chair to step down if he had not offered his resignation.
