Today's treat. Bent to 127⁰ at PT! #NewKnee
I've been working on this puzzle since shortly after my #NewKnee surgery. I do it while practicing bending my leg. It was one of the most difficult puzzles I've done, resorting to grouping the pieces by shape and then trial and error for the sea and the sky. Even the skyline was harder than you'd expect. But it's done now.
Seeing as it's sunny and marginally above freezing, I took #Eloise the ten blocks to the dog park and back. She was very good about staying on the side of the trees so I didn't have to walk on the frozen snow. The hardest bit was the mountaineering I had to do to pick up the poop. My #newknee was a little swollen when we got back but not too bad at all. She got to play with other big dogs and now she's asleep so I get to ice it in peace.

#newknee update One of my new exercises is standing on one leg for 30 secs and I can do that better than I could before the surgery My ankle was always fighting with my knee before and I was very wobbly but now I can just do it!

The PT pushed it to 108⁰ today which is apparently good. I was 100⁰ by myself which is an improvement on the 90⁰ I was last time.

I don't have much pain but it still keeps swelling above the knee and that gets uncomfortable so I am still icing a lot.

There was nobody home except #Eloise and me and she needed to go out so I took her. It was a bit terrifying on the very slushy bits but I had treats with me and she knows 'Wait for me' and she was a very good dog so we made it! #NewKnee
#NewKnee update. Dressing removed. Wound looking good. She even said it looks like 4-5 weeks post-op.and I'm only 3. It's such a relief to get it off. It was starting to give me the ick. And now it feels less tight too.
I went on an adventure to the grocery store two blocks away. Sidewalks and roads are cleared but crossing at junctions means either wading through a few inches of slush or climbing over banks of frozen snow. Two separate strangers offered me their hands to help me across said obstacles. It's hard to believe it sometimes but people are generally kind. #NYC #NewKnee
First PT today and I made 100⁰ flexion which was my goal for next Monday and 0⁰ extension which is better than before the surgery. Also I made it there by subway, stairs and all. Yes it swelled up after the session but once it was iced I was all good again. #NewKnee
Hmm - looking at expected snow totals for NYC this weekend. Getting to the hospital for my #newknee follow up appointment on Monday morning will be fun. I wonder can I teach #Eloise to pull a sled.

I put the miraculous healing and looking and feeling good down to getting enough sleep. I am not designed to be up at 6.15am 5 days a week but I've done it for more than a decade. It takes a toll on me.

Now I've had a few weeks of sleep till I wake and protein shakes and vitamins and ok, I wouldn't say my leg is much more than 40% of working yet, I still have to one-step up and down stairs and stick it out obnoxiously on the subway, but generally, I feel like a refurbished woman. #newknee
