In 1851 George French Angas went from Sydney to the NSW gold diggings via the Blue Mountains. This map shows his sketches along the way and corrects the dating on these drawings in #NationalLibraryAU collection. Early Photography in Colonial Australia

An interesting blend that I wasn't quite expecting, with reflection on photography, First Nations people, the colonial project and modern artistic use of historical photographic methods. James Tylor had some fascinating comments about #Kaurna and other #SouthAustralia place names. Panel at #NationalLibraryAU last week. #historyOfPhotography

@wragge Now that they also make *ongoing* Trove Collaborative Services payments to #NationalLibraryAU how well does their business case still stack up?

At the start the Australian newspapers project made good sense.

Artworks not so ubiquitous with art galleries not broadly participating.

I used to think #TroveAU lists would be good integrators but non-persistent links and constant tinkering has left them weak.

@wragge @histodons This is #NationalLibraryAU petty mindedness scoring reputation management own goal. #TroveAU

“National Library funding crisis” - Right on cue just before a federal budget. (Letters, Canberra Times)

There is seemingly no end to these “crises”. All under the same management. #NationalLibraryAU
