Only in hindsight is it clear to me that at least for our #NJROTC unit, it was a safe haven for (undiagnosed) Neurodivergent kids. Our NSI allowed us to hang out in the 2nd floor ROTC classroom which was a quiet refuge from the noisy Commons of our school, on the first floor. Lots and lots of #ASD kids, when I think back. Many with obsessions like military model kit builders, or camping/survival stuff, firearms, etc.
