Today I had a meaningful and wide-ranging meeting with Alice Jordan-Baird MP (member for Gorton).

We discussed at length the need for legislative change to better support people with disability, focusing on systemic reform that removes barriers, ensures equitable access, and centres lived experience in policymaking.

We also explored ways to expand access to the NDIS so that more people with disability can receive the support they need, and how we can improve the NDIS and MyAgedCare systems by simplifying application and review processes. Reducing unnecessary bureaucracy and streamlining staffing structures are key steps to cutting costs without compromising support quality.

We spoke about the importance of increasing locally delivered support through councils to better meet community needs and providing necessary funding through greater State Government support.

The conversation also touched on environmental concerns, including the urgent need to end fossil fuel subsidies and stop new gas expansions, which threaten our future and disproportionately impact marginalised communities.

I'm grateful for the opportunity to raise these issues and look forward to our continued collaboration toward lasting, inclusive change.

If you're a person with disability and would like to join a future meeting with Alice and me to contribute your voice to ongoing discussions around disability inclusion and access, feel free to send me a DM. Your insights are valued and needed.
