Canada Post: “The stamp features a photograph of maamoul (Middle Eastern cookies) and a wooden mould used to shape them. The cookies, which are stuffed with a walnut, pistachio or date filling, are a staple of celebrations during the two Islamic festivals. They are also made across the Middle East to celebrate other holidays, such as Easter and Purim.”

Canada Post has put every former prime minister who is not still alive on a stamp, some (Macdonald especially) more than others. This one, as Canada Post said at the time of issue, is “in recognition of Canada’s 18th prime minister, the Right Honourable Martin Brian Mulroney (1939-2024). Born in Baie-Comeau, Quebec, Mulroney is considered one of Canada’s most consequential prime ministers. Mulroney passed away on February 29, 2024, at the age of 84.”
