My second Christmas alone after my mom passed

Yesterday was spent prepping for my self-hosted birthday party on Saturday and making dessert for the meal I hosted for an elderly friend today. I went to a Christmas Eve service at the local church with my neighbors. Most of the day I was melancholy. No family visiting and other pet peeves. The service was full and the sounds of all the voices singing the traditional carols in the tiny church moved me to tears

Came home and started picking up my perpetually messy house. This morning, I got up early and got the turkey in the oven. Managed to get everything cooked by 12:15 and my friend and I enjoyed a lovely lunch together. After she left, I again started the picking up process.

I have more to do of the picking up, also birthday brownies to make and the pork butt to season and wrap up so I can put it in the slow cooker tomorrow night. Spoke with both of my brothers and SIL'S and less melancholy today.

Sitting down to a second meal of the Christmas feast.

Got out to pick up my receipts... because the lady told me last week they'd be ready this Monday. Arrived 8:30am. No receipts. She says maybe later this afternoon. 😶

There's a reason why I do errands as early as I can. I'm avoiding crowds and the lingering germs of those who already came and went. #MyNewNormal

Not sure I wanna be here in the afternoon. Especially with our #covid19 numbers rising. I'll have to come back tomorrow morning. 😐
