We had to drive down to Santa Ana for some art supplies and ended up eating lunch at this lovely drive through banh mi place in Fountain Valley called Pickle Banh Mi. It was delicious and cheap -- $6 for a huge sandwich!

I only know one really good banh mi in LA proper, which is My Dung in Chinatown. There are a lot of lousy ones and probably other good ones in the City but so many are fancy-schmancy chef's takes rather than traditional, which I don't prefer. We often also go to Mr. Baguette in Rosemead, which is both excellent and on the way home from work.

Anyway if you're in the area and you like banh mi this is definitely worth a try!
