CT#MusicWomanWednesday detour day two. Last week we honored Kinuko Oomori, or Priss from Bubblegum Crisis, and indeed she was technically my first "woman of anisong" as BGC #1-2 was my first experience on my first raw tape, and Konya wa Hurricane started up pretty immediately.
And while BGC was a strong musical driver from my early otakuness, KOR and Macross were as well, and while KOR is a shared experience, the Macross music experience was driven almost exclusively by one woman, Mari Iijima.
Her full story is pretty fascinating, and perhaps I will be able to add more later. Voice actress for Lynn Minmay (including the ADV English dub!)
It's like her "audition win" within the show directly translated into real life.
