Having grown up in a conservative pastor's home and being subsumed into the ministry, I am loving Wake Up Dead Man--it's take on "characters" in the church and the dynamics of religious psychology. It subtly hints at what is happening in the US--the co-opting of religion by rougher elements, the blending of church and politics, and the rejection of diversity. However, these things are hardly "new" in the American church. Great cast, tight writing. Funny. #amwatching #MiniMovieReview

I've now watched the Fantastic 4 movie twice... and it's certainly the best MCU movie of the last 2 years.

Sadly, that's not actually saying much... the Deadpool movie was the only one 'loosely' associated with MCU released last year.

The other previous 3 movies
2023 The Marvels
2025 Captain America: Brave new World
2025 Thunderbolts

Have all been disappointing.

Now I normally watch these movies 2 or 3 times... I get to focus on the plot the first time, the general acting, script and cinematics the 2nd and the 3rd is a kinda... try to pick up on the musical scoring and little nods to other movies along with easter eggs.

So whilst FFfs, is ok... it leaves a lot to be desired.

It's not just me either... the quality of the movies post Endgame (2019) has been very poor overall, far more misses than hits.

There have been 14 movies since Endgame, and only 3 of them have been good (Spider-Man-Far From Home, Spider-Man No Way Home & Black Widow). There have been 2 semi decent movies (Doctor Strange - Multiverse of madness & Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3).

That leaves nine flops... and I'm not counting Deadpool and Wolverine... which would actually be on top of the pile as fanfuckingtastic.

Maybe it's MCU fatigue, maybe they've just lost the plot and the whole franchise was too reliant on Evans, Downey, Johanson, Ruffalo and so forth... and bringing back Downey as the villain Dr Doom seems like desperation to me.

Godzilla Minus One is the #Godzilla film that Universal could never comprehend making.

A cinematic classic.

Haunted Mansion was enjoyable enough, but nothing special in my opinion. I thought the ride tie ins were clever, but the jokes didn’t always land, and the plot was mostly predictable.

I know it’s a Disney movie but I would have upped the scariness and tried to do something more unexpected with the plot.

That being said, I’ll take Tiffany Haddish and Jamie Lee Curtis as pshychis any day!

I very much enjoyed #Oppenheimer -- thought provoking, beautifully shot, a wonderful score, and somehow managed to keep the tension up for almost three hours without a break. Wouldn't be surprised if it won some Oscars (in my layman's opinion).

The nerd in me cheered every time I saw a scientist I knew and I absolutely loved seeing Einstein on screen!

Highly recommend!

Violent Night. Die Hard didn’t need to be rebooted as a Christmas movie, but I am damned glad they did :)

5/5 ho-ho-ho’s

i've solved the mystery.

i just can't.

no, i mean, as gay as i am for the mc - i can't even this plot line. i mean, wow - i'm struggling to feel sympathy in a movie that revolves not around lara's fierce independence but rather her extraordinary and mildly creepy devotion to her wealthy, cishet father.

clearly, i'm not the target audience here. that's fine.

more importantly - someone get freud on the line. stat.
