That was the end of the USA democratic republic AIUI.

It had always been patchy.
But it was ripped apart then.

Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall,
Humpty Dumpty had a great fall,
And all the king's horses,
and all the king's men,
couldn't put Humpty together again.

Trite, juvenille and altogether too fitting.
