What a breath of fresh air that #MertonCouncil refused application 22/T3239 for Tree Work by #AELTC to remove trees from Wimbledon Park Golf Course - Metropolitan Open Land, saying there was lack of justification to do so and strong environmental reasons not to. Thwarted: AELTC Plans to Chop Down Trees on the Golf Course

AELTC applied late last year (2022) to remove 19 trees and "scrub" - apparently jumping the gun in advance of the Merton and Wandsworth planning committees hearing their plans to build on the golf course. #FriendsofWimbledonPark have today reminded #MertonCouncil officers of their promise to reseed the grass by the #WimbledonPark Road entrance, which was damaged by the #AELTC car parking and compounded by the funfair trucks for bonfire night.
We have also asked Merton to replace the tactile paving in the same area, which was also badly damaged by the trucks and is now moving around in the rain water, causing a trip hazard and impeding pushchairs, wheelchairs, mobility scooters etc.
