@kawaiipunk @flancian

Can I recover my recordings despite service being down?

Hi folks, So here’s the current situation. Me and Nick have been working on this problem a lot. Firstly the comms blast that @wouter tried to send out went wrong and wasn’t sent via email on the OpenCollective due to a confusing UI change: Announcement to meet.coop members 2025-10-31 - Open Collective We desperately need help with comms on this issue. It’s really hard to switch between being a sysadmin and doing comms. I’m trying my best to communicate on the forum but it needs to be more tha...

Commoning in a pluriverse
https://forum.meet.coop/t/commoning-in-a-pluriverse/1497 - Here we explore the possibility of a new series of #meetcoop #commonshour : a study circle around Vanessa Machado de Oliveira’s 2021 book: *Hospicing modernity - Facing humanity’s wrongs and the implications for social activism.*

The book's challenge:

Nice thread developing here: FOSS as commons, the centrality of governance in constituting a commons (as distinct from an unregulated common pool) and maintainers as the (neglected) de factor stewards of FOSS commons.

A sidebar: platform commons that run on FOSS software is a whole other game. FOSS commons members are all 'geeks', nominally equal producers in the commons. While platform commons are intrinsically 'multistakeholder'.

I think of #meetcoop for example.

@sam
Similarly @ #meetcoop. Increasing membership is the need, to increase funding, to increase paid hours, to extend attention to the platform and relationships with members' communities. Paying for infrastructure under commons stewardship is a principle. It's where the 'free contribution, free use' basis of free software commons breaks down - depends too much on privilege and geekdom (not to mention individualism). Does @ntnsndr include this in his new book i wonder?

There’s broad agreement now that meet. coop can migrate the platform to the WebTV social coop (Montreal), with the membership relationships front end being handled by innovation.coop. See: Evolution 1 - Find a new home - #45 by mikemh Timescale to be determined but hopefully soon (summer 2023). Transition of platform and membership to be glitch-free for User members. Still a federation of coops, still evolving. Still meaning to change the world, one meeting at a time ;-)

> I'm wondering if there is a place where we can keep feedback about what folks (especially those who are sympathetic and aware of the issue) are finding challenging about switching off of zoom? I would love to have somewhere to compile the reasons I hear.

I'd be happy to open a thread in #meetcoop forum.meet.coop. This is a matter of concern for us, surely.

But - you're in our forum. So maybe you could spin up the conversation there? Anybody can view & contribute.
