I have Irish ancestors who left during The Great Hunger, around 1850. It took decades of genealogical research before I was able to narrow their place of origin to County Mayo. Records that early are sparse, so I may never know the town.

Still, as part of the diaspora, I can celebrate #MayoDay. I have a bottle of Connacht Whiskey and will toast my ancestors this evening.
