(The London) Suede - Antidepressants

The last couple of Suede albums are pretty clearly all of a piece, with similar artwork, driving through genres with skill.

This is, it's been said, their post-punk album, but whatever they want to call it, I think it's pretty stellar.

Just finished reading The Ghost Theatre by Mat Osman. It’s an astonishingly rich and brilliantly written book. I’m not really into historical fiction but I was intrigued as a massive #suede fan (Mat plays bass and is a founding member) and I loved it. #bookstodon #books #MatOsman https://www.waterstones.com/book/the-ghost-theatre/mat-osman/9781526654403

@dnanian not bad for a 10th album from a band in its 4th decade, eh?

And my goodness, doesn’t typing that make me feel old…

@hedders I try not to think about that (it's hard to believe the Thievery Corporation album I just posted is 20 years old)...but it's really solid late-period work. That's been happening a lot to 90s bands recently...
@dnanian yeah, it’s really gratifying to see bands who’ve been around a long time making really good new music. Suede, Pulp and Judas Priest all come to mind as recent examples.
@dnanian This is why I come here and follow things that interest me. I somehow discovered Suede 15ish years ago and purchased Head Music. I liked it, and then bought Coming Up on CD. Then, for whatever reason, my interest in the band faded. Now, as I see this post I am very intrigued about a more post-punk sound. I think I will have to dive into this album now. Thanks!
@mercury5979 I'd listen to the one before this (Autofiction) too, which is similarly very, very solid (if this is post-punk, that one's more punk...ish).
