Oh cool, apparently #MakingMagic Volume 5 is a May 2026 release…looks at the current date. Guess I’m walking into Civic tomorrow to place an order.

Yes, this is a fun series, I’m enjoying it and kind of hoping for an anime adaptation at some point.

CHORTLE. Direct quote from #MakingMagic Volume 4: “Moral of the story: they call ‘em cursed swords and forbidden arts for a reason. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.”

On the upside the bandit in question is pretty ‘armless right now… (Yes, I just went there. :) )

Pissing off the cute girl who used to be an Earth Golem and still thinks that monster cores (usually jewels or the like in this setting) are tasty snacks? Yeah, that’s not a bright idea…especially if you’ve ALSO annoyed her “Lady Witch” that she adores… #MakingMagic

Teto likes Arim too so, yeah, that’s DEFINITELY a paddlin’… #MakingMagic

Have I mentioned that this series has a definite “slavery is bad, yo” vibe going on and that I’m quite happy with that?

Kidnapping a child that Chise is fond of?

That’s a paddlin’…

Oh, and not only were they curb stomping a slavery ring, the local prince HIRED them to do so. He was at his wits end trying to deal with this bunch as a responsible Prince should and when Chise/Teto turned up in town again his IMMEDIATE reaction was “I summon BIGGER FISH” (ie Chise). #MakingMagic

#MakingMagic unlike, say, #TheRisingOf TheShieldHero has a fairly unambiguous “slavery is bad yo” vibe going on. Chise and Teto just spent a couple of chapters curb stomping a slavery ring.

With specific, explicit in story steps, to RESCUE the captives BEFORE stomping the slavers.

I am very OK with this as a plot point.

Unsubtle #shoutOut is UNSUBTLE….

CHORTLE.

HUZZAH! I have #MakingMagic Volume 4!
