I hate the term "loss leader" because to me, telling a story and getting it out to the reading public is never a loss. When marketing people use the term "loss leader" it reminds me of just how much books have been widgetized over the last decade or more, and how many people in the publishing ecosys

I was thinking... Amazon subsidizes every Kindle reader they sell, on the hopes of profiting from book sales.

So, if I buy one and never buy books from them (hello Project Gutenberg), they'll lose money, right ?

So, should I do it ?

Part of the #FreeWebHosting culture issues at the #OligarchControlled hosting places, since founding, where the lack of ethics psychologists have accounts that regularly run their 'test cases' on the nonconsentual userbase there is a loooooong line of news media stories around 'the userbase' which pays the price of the failing business model platforms, globally. It's far worse than that. In many cases the money spent is actually just a #LossLeader for what is really a #HostileCorporateTakeover of the #PublicSector.
