Buckminster Fuller made the distinction between weaponry and livingry.

The existence of the word livingry as an antonym to the word weaponry is powerful in itself.

It would be nice if our leaders thought like Buckminster Fuller more than, as a random example off the top of my head, Hitler.

This article by Fuller himself has some odd typos but you will get the gist.

It's disturbing reading Bernays' "Propaganda" (1920) and his objective to quell civil unrest through Consumerism because, to a large extent, it worked.

I have similar qualms with #Piketty's 400 years of data finding Revolution has had minimal effect on wealth distribution, whereas wars have been most effective at pulling wealth from the 1% and spreading it about.

I still agree with Bucky, though, that no political solution has had as much #livingry impact as central heating and flush toilets.

Even at their hoped-for future cost of $50,000 just for the 1BR DIY kit, there's a way to go before this can salve the housing crisis, but I'm sure Bucky would still be encouraged by the strategy.

Intelligent - rather than smart - cities can address the roots of urban challenges

Cities need to focus on intelligent, collaborative and community-oriented approaches to smart city planning. This is important when it comes to addressing the roots of urban challenges.
