Got a call from someone who thought she'd seen #LilyTheCat and the cat in question did indeed look an awful lot like Lily (and was quite friendly). Cat was 3 miles away (near Alameda de las Pulgas and Jefferson).
Somewhere in this I've gotten the special ability of "male cat identification," because it was clear to me that it had a male cat's build.
Still, got a chance to get out of the house and meet a lovely cat.
Traffic was awful today, so when we got to the animal shelter (to see if #LilyTheCat was there), I had to use the bathroom.
Naturally, it being a county facility, the stall door was a bit wonky, and I heard something thud when I finally wrangled it closed.
That thud?
My water bottle landing in the toilet. 😱
Thankfully it's glass, so easy to sterilize, but not something I wanted to have happen for sure.
While I'm mentioning #LilyTheCat things, a recruiter hijacked my one LinkedIn post about Lily to tell me she had a "good payrate" iOS position in Sunnyvale.
That job listing (naturally) doesn't comply with California law about requiring pay ranges.
In addition to the usual issues of political spam, one of the really *really* irritating ones for me this political season is #LilyTheCat going missing.
I want to keep my phone's messages free for Lily-related inquiries, and not mentally disregard them because of the massive, continuing, inrush of political spam messages.

Rick and I had our talk with #LostCatFinder yesterday, who said to put up flyers near food. As I'm falling asleep, I think of the venture capital offices.
Dream: I'm taking a #LilyTheCat postcard to a16z and Andreessen's all, "what's in it for me." Incensed that I might have to give up a 30% share of Lily to get his help, I start ranting about Silicon Valley,
"…and that's only because you haven't evolved your business model to renting cookies to children as a service. Yet."
He took notes.
Last week in a job interview, I was asked about the most difficult problem I'd ever had to debug was.
While I went into the kind of answer they expected, I first said: #LilyTheCat being missing. While there are only 8 classes of reasons, there are possible outside actors and you're not limited to what can happen on silicon, plus the problem space is just enormous.
