This should be simple. . .

Especially on my old i5 machine with xubuntu loaded, as I’m typing, when I reach the bottom of the screen my words disappear. I have to hit PgUp and then PgDown to reveal what I’ve typed at the bottom of the page plus a few empty lines below. What do I need to arm-wrestle to get the page to scroll along with me as I type? Do I have to hit CtrlEnter to open an empty page below the one I’m on if I don’t want my words to hide?
