Every Sunday I look back at the preceding week in kpop and pick out a music video or performance that I have particularly liked. This week I have chosen UNICODE – Let Me Love.

Kpop is a niche taste in the west, but I suspect I occupy a niche within that niche, because I think not that many westerners love cute concept girl groups.

This song, so reminiscent of early GFriend, has really grown on me. I liked this Inkigayo stage because the outfits do not necessarily read as school uniforms, that styling choice being the one aspect of cute concepts that I am not crazy about.

The composer, Jinyoung, also wrote one of my favourite Oh My Girl songs, “Step By Step”, sometimes known as “One Step Two Step”, which I will append as a reply to this post.
