Before the bite, the dread.”
A draft relic from the vault — the vampire unbitten, cloaked in silence, haloed by warders.
The fangs came later. This was the whisper before the myth.

John Lynch just wrapped up his pre-draft press conference... Highlights:

-Restated that the 49ers want Brandon Aiyuk to be with them his entire career

-Asked if there's a chance Aiyuk isn't on the SF roster Friday: "I wouldn't anticipate that." In another answer, Lynch said he'd like Aiyuk contract done sooner than Deebo Samuel's and Nick Bosa's, for obvious reasons

-Wanted to focus on draft questions. Said the 49ers have 22 first-round grades on prospects. Top half of this draft might be stronger than recent years

-Bottom half, however, might be weaker because nearly a third of the players SF initially expected to declare returned to college (NIL, etc.)

-A lot of questions and deeper level talk about OL prospects. Lynch seems to like the adaptability of many O-linemen in this class. Also added that the 49ers may draft for "future needs" along the OL

-Lynch on #LegacyDraft chances: "I believe in bloodlines. I really do"

-Lynch agreed with my theory that O-line play has suffered as far as athleticism relative to D-line play over the years, but that this dynamic seems to be reversing (he's happy about this, because it's good for Purdy and the 49ers)

-As far as trade up/trade down/stay put/draft for need: "You've got to be nimble, you've got to be flexible so you can react to anything that comes your way. And that's why you've got to be prepared."

-"Thank God for Mr. Irrelevant," John Lynch said

49ers #LegacyDraft proponents will like this one:

"I believe in bloodlines," John Lynch said. "I really do."
