Charles Spurgeon, particular Baptist preacher in London, talks of the conditions for having power in prayer. One of them is love. He says if a church is praying for growth, funding, or impact, but is known as a body that is lacking in love, then such prayers will not be heard. He suggests that God would ask why He’d provide for more conversions into such an unloving community?
How can you show love in your community?
John Berridge, Anglican revivalist, writes a systematic theology. In it, he suggests reflection on how small gifts may be appreciated. Every mouthful we receive is mercy. It is unmerited.
Do we ever think of our meals as actually unmerited? Do we want systematic theologies with no pestering about the poor?
How can seeing the world through a starving person’s eyes change how we view our relationship to God?

I’m listening to the latest episode of the Leaving Eden podcast, and am surprised at just how VERY angry the KJV-only debate can still make me. KJV only is the most awful misunderstanding of how words, reading, and language works, let alone how translation works or how God might or might not work. 😡😡😡
