In my #IdleMusing, many curiosities pop up to the fore of my mind.

Today, #Jennifer elbowed her way to the front. No, not any one girl or woman, but the name itself.

I’ve seen two nicknames for Jennifer - #Jen, and #Jenn. Sure, there’s Jenny, and Jenni, and Jeni, but that’s not what came to me.

It was the one-n vs. two-ns. I wonder why any particular person chooses one over the other. I also wonder something else.

When I was younger, up to my late teens or so in the late 1980s, I distinctly remember the one-n Jen being the overwhelming majority.

Then, at some point, two-n Jenn took over. I want to say it was in the mid- to late-1990s. So, why? Why was one-n so prevalent before the ‘90s, and two-n after? Was there a #socialshift that I’m unaware of? Was there a #celebrity with two-n that commanded such attention?

I wish I knew. Maybe someone here has some insight.

And, if not, I’ll continue through life occasionally pondering this curiosity.
