Lou Donaldson's excellent 1968 album Midnight Creeper was in the first batch of new releases. This is one of my go-to late-60's jazz listens. Dr Lonnie cooks on "Bag Of Jewels."

Happy Birthday to Jazz Organ legend Jimmy Smith (1925-2005). Often called the father of acid jazz, Smith's virtuoso improvisation technique on the Hammond B3 helped to popularize the electric organ as a jazz and blues instrument.

Root Down is a 1972 live album, recorded in North Hollywood, CA on February 8, 1972 at Jimmy Smith's supper club.
