Irish Terriers are one of the oldest terrier breeds and are nicknamed “daredevils” because of their famously spirited and fearless temperament. During World War I, Irish Terriers were used as messenger dogs in the trenches, carrying communications between units under incredibly dangerous conditions. They were so effective and brave that they earned widespread admiration. One officer wrote that they were “extraordinarily intelligent, faithful, and honest, and a man who has one of them as a companion will never lack a true friend.” That stretching behaviour you see in the photo? It’s actually a natural “play bow”. Dogs use it not just to stretch their muscles but also as a social signal to other dogs (and sometimes humans) that they’re feeling playful and want to engage. So this little terrier might just be inviting passersby on Oliver Plunkett Street to join in the fun!

Meet Paddy aka Spuddy a collie cross saluki and lurcher mix. Probably a spot of Jack Russell in there too as the lady at the dog pound said - all Irish dogs tend to have that ;)
We picked him up last Friday and he's been an absolutely brilliant and good boy since. Still learning new thing, like steps up into the motor home, but he already knows where's his bed is and sleep through the night.
Sadly he hurt a paw in the play area in the pound, so short and gentle walks for a few days before running and long hikes.
Just why would someone dump him and his brother on the side of the road. We know why, the very same reason our very much missed Tilley got dumped 12 years ago, sadly nothing has changed since ;(

Seit Hündin Ava vor neun Wochen acht Welpen auf die Welt gebracht hat, hält die tierische Rasselbande Ulrike Duwenbeck auf Trab. Die Tetekumerin ist eine von nur 13 seriösen Züchterinnen und Züchtern in Deutschland, die sich für den Erhalt der Kerry Blue Terrier einsetzen. Alle Vierbeiner dieser Rasse sind spritzig, intelligent, anhänglich, wesensfest, aufgeweckt und Allergiker-geeignet.
Nachmittags gibt es die #Leckmatte mit Joghurt-Spezial für alle! Viel Alltagsprogramm in dieser Woche.

Richtig kleine #hunde geworden. Das Außengehege wurde umgebaut und zusätzlich ein Pavillon errichtet. Die #kerryblue #terrier #welpen of #Bluebell #Cottage verbringen viel Zeit an der frischen Luft. Die haben so viel Spaß, wetzen hin und her, durch den Tunnel auf die Wiese. Und beim Tauziehen machen früher oder später alle mit.
