TrinsecThis game was an emotional rollercoaster; from the makers of To the Moon and A Bird Story (I've played both), Freebird Games has also made Impostor Factory.
Just finished it after playing it non-stop for a few hours. I'm still not entirely sure what to think of this, it's quite an inception-ish thing of sorts. Rest assured that I've shed plenty a tear. But was it real? Or was it not? Let me quickly add here that I thought at first that this game was going to be a horror murder mystery game. It had all the set up for that at the start. Oh boy, nice ruse there. 😅
The style is JRPG without combat. Very narrative driven, walking around towards the story pretty much. The scenes sometimes got darkened or edges got cropped depending on the current part of the story, there was a lot of attention to detail for dramatic effect. I'd say Freebird Games has elevated this game to an art form here.
When you thought you were at the saddest part (as in: you're ugly crying), the story got lighthearted and you might even have to chuckle. Then the sad part came from the other direction and you're crying again. The theme is largely about loss. And gain. But definitely loss.
Fuck you, game, for playing with my emotions like this! 😋
