#iftrue This potential has existed for several decades. Any two-way device can be surveilled including some that may not have apparent two-way capabilities. The more "advanced" the more digital the tech, the easier it is to grab information, store it and *automatically* search for ways to make it useable. "Smart" phones, watches, eyeglasses, household devices (like TVs and potentially even devices like smart stoves, thermostats, refrigerators), highly interactive devices like vehicles, things like Ring phones. Corporations lie and are likely to lie at some point if profit can be made. Governments including governments other than our own, private businesses (if they can pay for access) including competitors that want a leg up on steering customers towards their future monopolies. (Even without the devices, I've heard of businesses stuffing the comments of websites like Yelp with false information. Small business is always fighting a rigged system biased towards large chains anyway.) If this isn't all true already (and I think it is) it will be at some point.
