(This is a species of Enterobacter that degrades a wood preservative called IPBC. I isolated it myself, and it was the main thing I did my PhD on. It’s been sat in glycerol at -80°C for most of the last 20 years. I need it for a practical this week, so revived a bit on Tuesday. The smell takes me right back - it’s not exactly pleasant, but far nicer than E. coli!)
