BREAD TAG BIRTHDAY 245 TONNES OF SINGLE USE PLASTIC, REMOVED… In 2020, I was the first designer to innovate and introduce 100% recycled and compostable cardboard bread tags for Australians in every household for Tip-Top, Top Taste Bakery. The roll out of these cardboard tags has now removed – what was the equivalent of 49 tonnes of plastic every year - equates to a massive 245 tonnes over five years. The cardboard tags can easily recycle or compost giving them the best chance of being mulch or recycled into a new product rather than being sent to landfill or ending up in waterways. Currently I’m re-engineering some other products with Design-led solutions, such as; single-use plastic packaging, over packaged items (3 that could be 1) and engaging industry to implement a Direct Design Approach (DDA) - for Australian designers/packaging designers, brand owners and especially SMEs for: industry > market > user > waste. We all have responsibility and impact is urgent, vital and pivotal. By way of example this is just how one small idea can amount to so much and inspire others to fight for good design solutions that can make a BIG difference in the industry, in everyday retail market and remove millions of units out of the eco-system 🌏 How can we innovate more eco-friendly packaging solutions to assist bakeries and their yummy baked goods? #environment #sustainablepackaging #sustainability #packagingdesign #compostable #compostablepackaging #design #creative #bakers #innovation #bakey #tiptop #gooddesign #circulareconomy #waronwaste #packagingreform #APCO #packagingnews Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) #australia PIDA Australasian Packaging Innovation and Design Awards Good Design Australia Design Institute of Australia 💚✅
