Houston ISD says most of its principals, but less than half its teachers, view district as improving

According to the results of a "culture survey" publicized by HISD, 97% of its campus principals think the district is headed in the right direction under its state-appointed leadership, while that view is held by 39% of teachers.

As expected, more Houston ISD teachers are resigning than normal in the wake of the state takeover and sweeping reforms. Educators blame a culture of “fear and intimidation,” while state-appointed superintendent Mike Miles has emphasized “making a choice” to be in a “high-performance culture.”
