El Gobierno de Navarra ha confirmado la identificación de los restos de Luis García Lago, un vecino de Vigo represaliado tras el golpe militar de 1936 y fugado del Fuerte de San Cristóbal en 1938. Luis García Lago, jornalero y soltero, fue detenido en el verano de 1936 acusado de rebelión militar y condenado a cadena perpetua tras un consejo de guerra en Vigo. En febrero de 1937 fue trasladado al Fuerte de San Cristóbal, situado en el monte Ezkaba, donde permaneció preso hasta participar en la fuga masiva del 22 de mayo de 1938, uno de los episodios más conocidos de la represión franquista en Navarra. Sus restos han sido identificados a partir de uno de los cráneos recuperados en el osario del cementerio de Etulain en 2018. Dichos restos estaban vinculados a tres fugados que fueron detenidos y asesinados por falangistas días después de la evasión, según testimonios recogidos por investigadores y vecinas de la zona. Posteriormente, los cuerpos fueron recuperados durante obras en la zona y trasladados al osario. Con esta identificación, el Banco de ADN del Gobierno de Navarra suma 48 personas identificadas en una década, nueve de ellas relacionadas con la fuga de 1938. El organismo continúa apelando a la colaboración de familiares de represaliados para poder cerrar más casos aún pendientes de resolución.
