Some interesting observations from Greg Chappell at ESPNCricinfo.
I maintain that England haven't prepared properly and believed their own publicity rather than making sure their techniques are up to scratch.
GC says: "Training sessions, no matter how hard you try, can't replicate match pressure. Long sessions at low intensity do not produce competition-hardened players. Bowlers rarely reach match intensity in the nets or even centre-wicket practice matches.
Batting against coaches using "whangers" - devices that alter delivery mechanics - as a top-up may even exacerbate technical flaws,"
Thank you Greg! Those dog walker ball thrower things aren't the be all and end all. Batting routines and trigger movements are important things to have. "Whangers" don't do anything to help maintain or improve them.
Now England are trying to address technique failures with R&R.
When you're facing an opposition at the top of their game you need clear thinking. You can't play well with scrambled brains and thought processes.
But you need the right technique ingrained in that thinking.
And Pat Cummins will be back in the team for the Adelaide Test.
Nice, as Louis Balfour said on Jazz Club.
