Valparaíso is one of my favorite places, situated on Chile's Pacific coast about 100 km west of Santiago. The city's commercial center on a flat plain along the shore is nice enough. But Valparaíso's real charm is in its historic neighborhoods perched on steep hills overlooking the center and harbor. Art, texture, and color are everywhere and due to the undulating terrain, every building/street/block has a unique urban design.
