Yesterday I went to watch Grays Athletic play Gorleston at Great Yarmouth's ground (both teams are currently without a home ground) where there is the world's oldest wooden grandstand still in use. We did venture into the stand, but didn't watch the game from it. They obviously don't allow smoking in the stand, but they don't allow alcohol either.

Off to the footy for the first time in ages. I used to have a season ticket for West Ham United, but the love died following the move to the London Stadium. Grays Athletic have always been my team. My nan and grandad's house used to be a five minute stroll away, and grandad was a very passionate and vocal supporter of The Blues. So yesterday I had my first venture to watch live football since before the COVID19 lockdowns. Grays Athletic entertained Tilbury in a local derby at Aveley’s Parkside ground in a match affectionately known by supporters of both teams as ‘El Chavico’ with Grays running out 2-0 winners.

After the intrusion of VAR and West Ham United’s move to the London Stadium the love of footy that had died within me has started to be rekindled #GrassRootsFootball #NonLeague #Football #GraysAthletic #ElChavico
