@daweaver That is definitely a wild divergence, that can only partly be explained by it being a bit of a grower.
My eternal #GoodEurovision call is "Blackbird" (YLE, 2017), my favourite entry of a contest that marked the beginning of the end for me and ESC: 2018 was Oops! All Strobes, 2019 was Tel Aviv, 2020 obviously wasn't, and I could never get excited about the contest in the same way again after that gap.
If you asked me to sum up my taste in Eurovision songs with just one entry, it has to be Albania 2019.

It's an absolute masterpiece, and it got put in the death slot and finished 17th in the grand final. Yes I am still mad about it.

On a very different note, Finland not qualifying in 2017 was a crime and arrests should absolutely have been made.

"Snap" - Rosa Linn (AMPTV, 2022)
The most streamed song in the contest's history, and it only finished twentieth in the final.
Twentieth! Eurovision, as much as we love you, sometimes you get it so wrong.

"Veronika" - Raiven (RTVSLO, 2024)
A dark piece of pop-opera theatre about Veronika of Desenice who was accused of witchcraft and murdered for loving a man above her social rank.
Don't get this with Michael McIntyre, do you?

More under-winning Eurovision songs.
"Et cetera" - Sinéad Mulvey & Black Daisy (RTÉ, 2009)
Missed out on the final by a gnat's crotchet. Sinéad left the music biz shortly after.

"No degree of separation" - Francesca Michielin (RAI, 2016)
Gorgeous little song of togetherness, always seem to listen to it in a dusty room.

#GoodEurovision is the request: songs that didn't crack the left-hand side on saturday night, or even make the final.
I could fill this thread with a full evening of songs that should have done much better, from "Brandeburger Tor" to "What the hell just happened?". Here's five.
"Alvedansen" - Christine Guldbrandsen (NRK, 2006)
Elf dancing. Does what it says on the tin.

Brigitte - Open Your Heart
