trendless@EricCarroll that's a very interesting way to frame it. So my takeaways are:
There are always some gamblers who will get away with murder (and in this case, that's all too literal)
Most will lose big
Some who lose big will refuse to acknowledge they lost the bet and continue playing. (In 'the movies', these are the folks who get so indebted to the casino that they end up buried in the desert)
The rest of those who lose big will no longer be willing to gamble and will take what few chips they have left off the table.

How I wish I could convince those who are gambling that the short-term bursts of fear/pleasure they're chasing will never be worth it -- not for them, not for those around them, not for society/civilization as a whole.
