Why yes, one of my last official acts as general co-chair of #group2023 was to create a Mastodon account for the conference. @group
The ACM SIGCHI Conference on Supporting Group Work (GROUP) has officially come to a close! But now we're on Mastodon so you can keep in touch. :) And if you're not familiar with our community, all of the papers listed on our program are available in the ACM Digital Library, published in PACM-HCI! We can't wait to see some papers about Mastodon presented at our next conference. :) #group2023 https://group.acm.org/conferences/group22/program.php

My department has quite a showing here at #GROUP2023 this week! Check out the work we're presenting on a variety of topics, including TikTok, Black Twitter, fandom platforms, working from home during COVID, design fiction, and research ethics for public data... https://www.colorado.edu/cmci/2023/01/09/information-science-group-2023

Hello from #group2023 <3
This year the ACM @sigchi Conference on Supporting Group Work (GROUP), in addition to a large number of traditional papers, published 6 design fictions, which the call defined as works that "use a variety of speculative methods to explore the futures towards which technology research and design are working." I love the creativity so much! Here's a rundown of those six visions of the future... ๐Ÿงต #group2023
This post just showed up in my Facebook memories... After three years, one pandemic, and one hurricane, I'm a little sad that we didn't deliver on most of the ideas we had for innovation, but also totally thrilled that we managed to pull together this conference at all! Programming kicked off today. :) #group2023
One of my favorite things about conferences is that when I see presentations I send links to the paper to people who I think would be interested in reading it. So a cool thing we did for #group2023 is that there's a discord channel for each paper session, which includes easily accessible links for all the papers so you don't have to look them up. :)

Happening!

First irl conference for me in a long time #group2023

If you're at #GROUP2023, please say hi to Jessica Wang, a former masters student at MIT, who will be presenting our work "Designing for Engaging with News using Moral Framing towards Bridging Ideological Divides" on Wed! We looked at the impact of surfacing moral framing in online discussions about news on contentious topics, finding in a small scale study that it helped people consider how to frame their own arguments in the moral values of the opposing side.

It is day one of the #GROUP2023 @sigchi conference! I am one of the general co-chairs, and after THREE YEARS of planning (including one pandemic, one postponed conference, and one hurricane that caused a last minute venue change) we are finally all gathered on Hilton Head Island in South Carolina! Pictured here, our fabulous student volunteer chair, Brianna. :) https://group.acm.org/conferences/group22/
