One thing that's really bothered me about the local area furmeets here in the Central Texas area is that everyone seems to want to group together furmeets in like a business moniker and I don't understand why. Every other state and city seems to just call their meets "[City]/[State] [Activity] Meet' while here there's overall orgs (usually one or two person anyway) with business-like names.

It's almost like the furries running things here are trying to run a business off furmeets and eventually profit off it or something, no idea why you'd do that. I swear, the people running things here are so poison-pilled by capitalism.

Seriously, organizing (probably the second largest) recurring #furmeet in Europe and potentially the largest furmeet in Germany is stressful. Fun! But stressful!

I should track the hours spent, it's probably way too much right now; and my legs still hurt, lol. I'm just tired.

Unsolicited advice from someone who ran a well-prepared 40-person barbecue furmeet and still learned lessons the hard way:

1) Make sure you have enough people willing to do crap at your command so that you won’t become overwhelmed and unable to have fun. (This is the most important one.)

2) When it comes to food, err on the side of having just enough, unless you have some means of giving away leftovers.

3) Plan to be there earlier in the day for those who want to come and chill, but save anything meant for the whole group till later, when almost everyone will be there.

4) Assume about 15% will cancel and not show up, and that a roughly equal amount will want to come, all last-minute.

Had a really lovely time at the Sheffield Furs meet today! Lots of people there for a meet so close after a convention! Had a great time hanging out with folk and being a silly dog.
