Maybe we should get rid of free parking? I keep hearing how unrealistic free fares are, but it seems like free parking is the real irresponsible public subsidy here

I actually think that, given that fares are just 8% of the budget, a #FreeMuniFullService campaign that actually secures the funding for the "full service" part as well might be one of the more realistic paths forward to motivating people to support the kinds of budgetary changes we need

@pentney This was definitely a concern I originally had, but I think #FreeMuniFullService implies that the project would involve a much more comprehensive focus on funding Muni properly and actually enforcing a #TransitFirst approach to transportation in our city

(I'm not directly involved in the project currently, but I'm watching with optimism)

Today I helped kick off a campaign called #FreeMuniFullService. The goal: fight climate change, traffic deaths, and inequality by making public transit in San Francisco fare-free while restoring service to pre-pandemic levels and beyond.
