Photographs of #Kyiv of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Authorship of the famous Kyiv photographer #FranzDeMezer, an active member of the #KyivLiteraryAndArtisticSociety and friend of #LesyaUkrainka.

In 1918, the #Bolsheviks stormed Kyiv and declared cameras and their accessories luxury items subject to confiscation. All the equipment and most of the negatives were taken from de Mezer. The photo workshop was closed and ceased to operate.
